[Abstract] Objective:To compare the efficacy and side effects of clomipramine and fluoxetine in treatment of childhood depression. Methods:One hundred and thirty patients with depression were randomly divided into 2 groups treated with clomipramine and fluoxetine respectively for 8 weeks. The efficacy was evaluated with SelfRating Depression Scale (SDS) and the side effects were evaluated with treatment symptome scale (TESS).Results:The effective rate of clomipramine group and fluoxetine group were 83.1% and 87.7% respectively, which had no remarkable differences between the two groups. However, the total effective rate of clomipramine group was significantly higher than that of fluoxetine group after twoweek treatment. The side effects of both groups were few and light. Conclusions:Both clomipramine and fluoxetine are effective in treatment of child depression with few side effects.
